Our project idea

We are both Grade 5 teachers in the ETSB and want to have our students share their vision of their school community. They will, hopefully, do this through photo essays that they will help each other build on a common wikispace. So far we have planned to have our students brainstorm questions that they would have about the other school (A.D.S or S.E.S.). The students can use photos and text and/or voice-thread to answer the questions and tell the story of the photo. We are also looking at using this project as a submission for our classes in the School Board Arts Festival competition called “Show your Talent”.
That’s it so far. We can collaborate on the wiki as well as through chat on our school board portal and on our days that the school board can give us for the CEFRIO project.

Hi Cathy and Jennifer.
I attended the workshop on Feb 9th about creating on-line commnuities and building links between schools. I am the coordinator (and former teacher) of Cirque du Soleil’s school services on the touring shows. I am trying to build some bridges between our small touring schools and schools here in QC. I would like to get some info on your project and “pitch” it to my teachers out there on tour.
As you can imagine, the school community at a Cirque show is quite unique; your kids would be interested to see how it works through this video/photo essay. Likewise, our Cirque kids would like to see what “normal” schools are like. Their peer groups are small and sometimes non-existent. Making connection with thier peers through technology will be a rewarding experience.
Can you please send me the link to your wiki and any other planning docs that you might have? That will help me clarify the project for when I speak with the teachers.

Hi ladies,
This might be an interesting project to add to the Quebec Communities wiki that we created in November.(That is if you haven’t already created one) Our focus right now is on developing an idea of different communities that the schools involved are located in but we had also talked about adding in elements of the school community.
